FEMEN sextremists sent a message to the conspirators of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on behalf of all the women of the world. Sextremists activated black smoke bombs and protested close to the main pavillion. FEMEN's slogan "Poor, because we are women" focuses on one of the planned topics of Davos 2013 - "Women and the Economy."
The women's movement FEMEN stands against the false rhetoric of the "masters of the world” who have defined the place of women in the global economy: unfairly compensated laborers, wordless docile creatures and sex slaves. Discussing the fate of women over caviar and champagne, delegates prefer to say nothing about the fact that, in the 21st century, women are the most numerous but the poorest, most powerless and most uneducated group in this world. Unhappy and depressed, they are subject to the most exquisite forms of violence, from political and economic to religious and sexual. The shooting of a young Pakistani activist by the Taliban, the imprisonment of Pussy Riot in Russia, an epidemic of gang rapes in India and Tunisia, the killing of Kurdish activists in Paris, the expansion of sharia zones of influence and other lesser-known barbarisms practiced daily by the world's elite with great indifference all give testament to this fact. Some beneficiaries of these crimes are the guests of honor at "Davos 2013".
FEMEN requires that snickering billionaires and their political lackeys stop giving lip service to women's fates and honestly admit that our poverty and suffering is a condition of their mortgages and prosperity. FEMEN calls for decisive steps on the real redistribution of power, capital and income between men and women! Otherwise – it will be you or us!
