BERLINALE, FILM ISN'T THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BE CUT! STOP FGM!
FEMEN activists crashed the opening ceremony of the 2013 Berlinale film festival on 6 February. The attack coincided with the International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation (female circumcision), as scheduled by the United Nations. Breaking the security cordon, activists from FEMEN Germany opened their posters on the red carpet of the festival, where they were atracked by security service. Co-opting the media circus around Berlinale, sextremists of FEMEN decided to remind the world about the monstrous mutilation of thousands of women in "enlightened Europe" as well as "wild Africa". FEMEN calls upon the world to pay attention to problems of young women more than problems of modern art or cinematography. FEMEN aimed to tell the Berlinale audience about bleeding women because, even in the 21st century, sadistic rituals are drawing enough of their blood to paint carpets red from Berlinale to Cannes.
