FEMEN Canada Sextremist managed to disrupt the speach of the Minister of culture Helen David in the House of Nation. FEMEN sexstremist stood out in support of the women’s right for abortion. With Bill 20, the Minister of Health abolishes free access to abortion: the operation loses its medical status of “priority“, which means that the public health system will not be able to provide nearly enough abortions compared to what is needed. Bill 20 depraves thousands of women of their rights and puts an end to a politic at the very foundation of gender equality. We are outraged: it is not because Gaétan Barrette doesn’t have a uterus himself that he gets to decide that humans who do are secondary! A FEMEN activist went to the National Assembly so lift up her skirt and show HER priority: her uterus and the violence done to her body by the suppression of essential health care services.
We demand free and unconditional access to abortion procedures! Bill 20 cuts in health care and social services mostly used by women are, like all the austerity measures of the Parti Libéral du Québec, enslaving women to a patriarchal economy: a traditional technique to keep the social class “women“ perpetually one of the poorest in society.
