Three years ago at a FEMEN International training camp in Paris I met Portuguese Luisa Sequeira Rego, and I’m honoured to have been invited by her and Festival Feminista de Lisboa as a Femen / FEMEN sweden representant together with Lara Alcázar from FEMEN España, to the first feminist festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
The conference “Give the body to the manifesto: feminist agenda and forms of protest” was with us and Portuguese feminists and activists; sharing the panel with Ana Sofia Fernandes from Plataforma Portuguesa para os Direitos das Mulheres and European Women’s Lobby, and feminist activist Manuela Góis. Moderator and or lovely host was Luisa Sequeira Rego, and the place Gallery and Livraria Ler Devagar at LXFactory was just supercool and the area is a beautiful hip area I highly recommend and hope will be preserved!
Conference conclusion: We all agreed on joined sisterhood against patriarchy, even if we had divergent ideologies concerning prostitution/sexwork in a long and interesting debate.
Portuguese women ready to fight as sextremists against capitalisation of women as objects in prostituition and patriarchy are welcome to start Femen Portugal and join Femen International!
