The acquittal was requested for Femen on Tuesday night at the Paris Criminal Court. The prosecutor was not convinced that “all Catholics have been targeted” by the irruption of topless feminists during a protest against gay marriage organized by the fundamentalist movement Civitas. The representative of the prosecution spoke of “freedom of expression in a debate of general interest”, reports Le Parisien.
On November 18, 2012 six Femen, nuns wearing veils covering the torso and the inscription “Fuck Church” had burst among the traditionalist Catholic activists, which earned them a complaint from the Agrif (General Alliance against Racism and for the Respect of the French and Christian Identity) for public insult. The judgment was postponed until February 16.
